Grant Writing Workshops at UWRI - Register Now!

Writing.jpgUnited Way of Rhode Island invites you to join us and register for two Grant Writing workshops to be held at UWRI in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island.

As we prepare for the launch of our fall requests for proposals (RFPs), we invite volunteers, staff, and consultants associated with Rhode Island-based agencies to take advantage of this opportunity aimed at increasing the competitiveness of an organization’s application. This invitation to register is intended for anyone wishing to apply for funding in our upcoming three-year grant cycle in which UWRI will grant $4 million dollars per year of the grant cycle.

Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops, as Grant Writing 1: The Basics is a necessary first step in participating in Grant Writing 2: Writing the Grant in Response to UWRI’s RFPs. This opportunity is being offered to prospective applicants for a fraction of what full day grant writing workshops usually cost - only $30 per session or $50 for both sessions.

Our one-day Grant Writing workshops will meet from 9-4 at United Way of Rhode Island, located at 50 Valley Street in Providence, and are designed to provide you with core competencies in research and planning, persuasive writing, organization and the all important follow up.

Grant Writing 1: The Basics
August 24, 2015
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The focus of this workshop will be on how to search for data and resources both public and private, isolating objectives, planning content of response, writing & packaging a proposal (scope, critical elements, specifications, budgets), creating an effective summary and statement of need, submitting the proposal and following up.

Grant Writing 2: Writing the Grant in Response to UWRI’s Requests for Proposals
September 11, 2015
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This workshop will work with you as you are writing your grant in response to United Way of Rhode Island’s request for proposals. You will receive direction, instruction, encouragement and feedback as you construct a comprehensive, well-written grant. Required: You must be ready to write! Come in with a specific project, including what you want to do with your grant money, and what materials you will need to do it.
